Purpose: The HSE Officer’s purpose is to support a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible workplace by ensuring compliance with HSE regulations, identifying and controlling risks and promoting continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental practices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Implement and maintain HSE policies and procedures, in accordance with company standards and applicable legislation.
* Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to minimize workplace risks.
* Perform regular workplace inspections, audits and safety observations to identify non-conformities and improvement opportunities.
* Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
* Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks and safety training sessions to employees, contractors and visitors.
* Maintain HSE records, statistics and documentation in accordance with document control procedures.
* Support emergency preparedness planning, drills and response activities.
* Ensure proper use of PPE and promote safe work practices across all departments.
* Monitor environmental aspects such as waste management, emissions and spill prevention.
* Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance and environmental responsibility.
* Promote safety initiative and culture within the company.
* Report to the leadership team HSE performance of the company.
* Initiate HSE training / awareness using internal and external resources when required.
* Ensure HSE requirements are met through continuous follow-up with relevant parties.
* Generation of HSE summary reports.
* Support with resolving and/or escalating issues in a timely fashion.
* To actively engage in all training provided (internal and external).
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
* Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of HSE fundamentals, principles and practices, working knowledge of the institutional and statutory framework in which the above functions are performed.
* Good Analytical, organizational, problem solving and time management skills.
* Good coaching and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability and skills to conduct root cause analysis and incident investigations.
* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and demands.
* Proven ability to create and sustain effective working relationships in a team environment.
* Ability to communicate and articulate ideas and information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
* Knowledge of oil and gas industry standards and regulations.
* Good technical skills with PC/Software/CMMS based systems & technical writing.
* Knowledge and experience with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 may be considered an asset.
Minimum Qualification and Experience Requirements:
* NEBOSH Certificate from Accredited Institution.
* At least 3 years in the technical environment with exposure to Operations, Control and Management, HSE and Process Safety.
