Job Summary

APAN Energy Services Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Technician – Reconditioning to support the refurbishment of engine components for the 12,000-hour major maintenance programme at the Columbia Power Plant.

This is a hands-on technical role responsible for carrying out and coordinating component refurbishment, inspection, measurement, testing and preparation for handover to the engine overhaul team. The successful candidate may also support routine, preventive and corrective maintenance, breakdown response and other plant maintenance activities within their area of competence.

Key Responsibilities

Perform refurbishment and reconditioning of components associated with Hyundai HiMSEN 9H21/32 medium-speed engines and related auxiliaries.

Strip, inspect, service, assemble and test fuel injection valves and pumps.

Clean, inspect and service cylinder heads, valves, seats and guides, including approved hydrostatic testing.

Inspect and measure cylinder liners, assess wear and ovality and carry out honing where permitted.

Inspect and measure connecting rods, pistons and associated components.

Service HT/LT water pumps, thermostatic elements, charge air coolers and other assigned auxiliaries.

Support turbocharger inspections and approved specialist work.

Carry out precision measurements using appropriate calibrated instruments.

Check technicians' measurements and workmanship and provide task-level technical guidance where required.

Record component identification, measurements, parts used, defects and test results.

Support preventive and corrective maintenance and authorized breakdown activities.

Maintain safe work practices, including compliance with permit, isolation/LOTO, PPE and risk-assessment requirements.

Maintain tools, equipment and workshop areas in proper condition.

Update maintenance records and designated work-order systems accurately.

Qualifications & Experience

Technical certificate or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Mechanics, Plant Maintenance, or a recognized equivalent trade qualification.

Minimum 3 years of relevant industrial mechanical maintenance experience.

Demonstrated experience in major engine overhaul and component reconditioning.

Experience using micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators and calibrated torque tools.

Ability to read OEM manuals, assembly drawings and technical work instructions.

Experience with HiMSEN or comparable medium-speed engines is preferred.

Practical understanding of safe workshop practices, permits and equipment isolation.

Specialist lifting, machining or testing qualifications are desirable where relevant.

Work Conditions

The role is based in workshop and plant environments and may involve exposure to heat, noise, oil and moving equipment. The position normally operates on a Monday-to-Friday schedule, with planned Saturday work during overhaul activities and authorized breakdown support as required.
