Inventory / Receiving Personnel / Trainee

Overview: The Inventory Receiving Personnel / Trainee supports the receiving, inspection, recording, storage, and movement of inventory items within the organisation. Under supervision, the trainee will learn inventory control procedures, warehouse operations, stock management practices and company safety requirements while ensuring the accurate receipt and documentation of materials and equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Verify received items against purchase orders, packing slips, delivery notes, and other supporting documents.

• Help inspect deliveries for quantity, quality, and condition.

• Report damaged, missing, or incorrect items to the supervisor.

• Learn to accurately record inventory transactions in the inventory management system.

• Assist with labeling, tagging, and categorizing inventory items.

• Support the organization and storage of inventory to ensure easy retrieval and proper stock control.

• Participate in periodic stock counts and inventory audits.

• Assist with loading, unloading, and movement of inventory items.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving and storage area.

• Follow inventory handling procedures to prevent loss, damage, or misplacement of stock.

• Support the timely issuance and transfer of inventory to internal departments.

• Maintain accurate inventory records and filing systems.

• Assist with preparing inventory-related reports and documentation.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the warehouse and inventory functions.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

• Good organisational and time management skills.

• Ability to learn inventory management systems and warehouse procedures.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Willingness to learn and follow established processes.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Minimum Qualification and Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of three (3) CSEC subjects, including Mathematics and English.

• Recent school leaver or candidate seeking experience in inventory, warehouse, logistics, or procurement operations.

• Basic knowledge of inventory control or warehouse operations would be an asset
